Lowestoft is on the East Coast, some 120 miles north east of London. East Anglia is a popular area for aircraft enthusiasts with several military airfields, both RAF and USAFE. Lowestoft is within a 60 mile radius of Mildenhall, Lakenheath and Marham. There used to be more but Coltishall, Bentwaters and Honington are no longer operational and Wattisham now has Army and SAR Helicopters.

All modellers will enjoy a visit to our mail order warehouse which is where the stock is held and which has it's own large car park. It is open six days a week from 9.00am to 5.30pm.

Just turn left as you leave the station and walk for about 5 minutes just past the RAF Museum. Alternatively take the 303 bus which drops you outside the Museum. The underground ticket covers the fare cost at the time of writing. For motorists it is near the end of both the M1 and A1, about ten miles inside the M25 and has ample free parking outside. Follow brown road signs to the RAF Museum.

Types of Model [top]
Injection Moulded - Hot liquid plastic is injected at high pressure into steel or resin moulds. As used by the major firms in the business. This is mass production which usually results in the lowest retail price.

Resin Moulded - A mixture of 2 different chemical liquids which are mixed together and poured into a rubber mould. These are hand made and the moulds usually only last for about 30 models before they have to be remade. Production is slow and resin is expensive, so resin kits and accessories are not cheap but this method does allow less well known aircraft to be produced. Aircraft that major manufacturers could not consider producing.

Vacform Moulding - A resin mould is made and then pushed into a sheet of heated plastic. The vacuum pump is turned on and the plastic is sucked down into the mould. All parts are in the sheet and then have to cut out and then sanded down.

All methods allow superb detail to be achieved. The better the original master and mould, the better the parts will be.
