AM-01R Messerschmitt Me-262. A Complete Guide To The Luftwaffe’s First Jet Fighter. (Owing to the volume of extra material we have increased the book size from 176 to 208 pages plus covers and plans) Valiant Wings Publishing’s next title returns to where it all started ten years ago with a second, much expanded edition of our very first title The Messerschmitt Me 262 - A Complete Guide To The Luftwaffe’s First Jet Fighter by Richard A. Franks. This will be the sixty-second book that we have published in our ten-year history. The Me 262 is a very popular aircraft modelling subject and our much expanded second edition will go some way towards unpicking the bewildering choices of variants and schemes that apply to the type. The modelling map of the Me 262 has changed considerably over the past ten years so this title will be a new book-rewritten, completely redesigned and expanded from the first edition to contain at least 180 pages packed with vital information that no active modeller and Luftwaffe enthusiast should be without. It will contain: 40+ pages of technical information 20+ pages of walk-around images and technical diagrams 10+ pages of camouflage and markings 25+ pages of model builds and updated modelling information 200+ photographs including wartime images Colour side views and four-views by Richard J. Caruana 3D isometric views of all variants by Jacek Jackiewicz Specially commissioned extensive full kit builds by Libor Jekl & Steve A. Arado Ar-68F-1 The Arado Ar 68F-1 was a German multirole biplane developed in the mid-1930s, the main competitor to its contemporary the famous Heinkel He 51. At the time of its appearance, the aircraft displayed very good flight characteristics, but the rapid pace of technological progress and the introduction of monoplane fighters, such as the Bf 109, immediately pushed it like all other biplanes into the background, and therefore from the beginning the Arado Ar 68F mainly entered training units. A small number of Arado Ar 68Fs were also flown by combat units, mostly in secondary theatres of WW2. The last few aircraft of this type were used in 1942.
1941 Packard Clipper The Packard Clipper was an American automobile first announced in 1941 by the Packard Motor Car Company, a leading manufacturer of luxury cars since the early 20th Century. By February 1942 some 16,000 '41 Clippers had been produced. When the United States entered WW2, Packard switched production to the war effort producing Packard Merlin aero engines, a licensed copy of one of the best engines of its time, the Rolls-Royce Merlin. A significant number of Packard Clippers were bought by the U.S. Army and used both at home and in numerous theatres of military operations overseas as personal transport for senior officers. At least two Packard Clippers became particularly famous when they were used by General Dwight D. Eisenhower and General Douglas MacArthur, two of the country's best known military leaders. Restyled Packard Clippers were produced after the end of WW2 but in much smaller quantities.

Avro Vulcan B.2 NEW TOOLING now for release in April 2021 Occupying a significant position in the history of post war British aviation, the Avro Vulcan was without doubt one of the most distinctive aircraft ever to take to the skies, with its huge delta wing profile becoming almost as iconic as the elliptical wing of the Supermarine Spitfire. Built to satisfy an extremely demanding Air Ministry requirement for a fast, high altitude strategic bomber, capable of carrying a ‘special’ payload of 10,000 imperial pounds in weight (a nuclear device), the new aircraft was intended to serve as an airborne deterrent to any future military threat against the UK, with the required specifications representing a 100% increase in the capabilities of any previous British bomber aircraft. When the Vulcan made its maiden flight in August 1952, the Avro team were well on the way to presenting the Royal Air Force with not only the world’s first delta bomber, but also one of the world’s most effective strike bombers. Interestingly, all this was achieved just nine years since the Avro Lancaster’s of RAF No.617 Squadron had launched their famous raid against the great dams of the Ruhr Valley. As the Avro Vulcan entered squadron service with No.83 Squadron at RAF Waddington in July 1957, Britain now possessed the fastest nuclear capable bomber in the world. It seems strange to describe an aircraft which possessed such potential for untold destruction as Britain’s most effective peace keeping asset, however, that is exactly what the Vulcan turned out to be. Throughout the aggressive posturing of the Cold War, the Warsaw Pact nations were in no doubt that if they dared to launch an attack against a NATO member country, the consequences of the inevitable retaliatory strike would be catastrophic. Without Doubt, during the early years of its service career, nothing represented this doomsday scenario more effectively than the mighty Avro Vulcan. Evolution of the Avro Vulcan B.2 As the Royal Air Force exhaustively trained their new Vulcan crews to provide Britain with an effective Quick Reaction Alert strike force, Avro engineers were already working to improve the capabilities of their original, iconic design. In order to ensure the aircraft continued to maintain its effective deterrent threat and stayed one step ahead of advances in Easter Bloc fighter and surface-to-air missile technology, designers incorporated developments which endowed the aircraft with greater range, speed and altitude performance. The installation of more powerful versions of the Vulcan’s Bristol Olympus engines would result in a number of unforeseen stability issues with these first bombers, which concerned designers enough to necessitate a re-design of the original wing shape. By the time the definitive B.2 variant of the Vulcan entered service, the aircraft’s wing area had increased significantly and although still classed as a delta, would look quite different from the first bombers which entered service. To cope with the increased power availability from subsequent engine upgrades and to cure the instability issues of the original straight wing design, the B.2 wing had two defined kinks in its leading edge, well forward of the profile of the original wing design. Rather than detract from the pleasing aesthetics of the early Vulcan’s delta wing, the B.2 actually enhanced the profile of the aircraft and even though these changes were obviously made for reasons of operational effectiveness, as opposed to appearance, the B.2 would go on to be considered the most famous (and most numerous) of all the RAF’s Vulcans. The service introduction of the Vulcan B.2 in July 1960 coincided with the availability of more capable nuclear weapons for the V-bomber force, both in number and destructive potential. It would also bring about a change in thinking regarding the delivery of such weapons, as significant advances in Soviet anti-aircraft technology now threatened the success of a free-fall gravity bomb mission. A significant new weapon would have to be developed in order to maintain the deterrent threat of the Vulcan and its V-bomber partners. Developed to maintain the validity of Britain’s nuclear deterrent threat, designers at Avro produced the powerful ‘Blue Steel’ air-launched, nuclear stand-off missile, which would allow V-bomber crews to launch their attacks 100 miles away from their intended target and out of the range of Soviet surface-to-air missile batteries, allowing crews valuable additional time to avoid the resultant blast. Further boosting the effectiveness of the V-bomber force, the arrival of ‘Blue Steel’ raised the nuclear stakes in Britain’s favour once more and would have caused much consternation amongst the Warsaw Pact nations. The responsibility of providing Britain’s strategic nuclear deterrent passed to the submarines of the Royal Navy in July 1969 and saw the RAF performing its final V-bomber ‘Blue Steel’ mission late the following year. Although taking on a more conventional strike role, RAF Vulcans would retain a nuclear capability and maintain their position as one of the world’s most effective bombers for the next fourteen years, before finally being withdrawn from service. Due to the affection in which this aircraft was held by the British public, the Vulcan Display Flight was almost immediately formed to operate one aircraft on the UK Airshow circuit for a further nine years, before itself being disbanded. To the amazement of the historic aviation world, the last flying Avro Vulcan, XH558, the aircraft which had previously served as the Vulcan Display Flight aircraft, triumphantly returned to the air once more, this time in the hands of a civilian organisation in October 2007. Over the course of the next eight years, the Vulcan thrilled millions of people around the country, becoming something of an aviation national treasure – a relic of the Cold War which was held in great public affection.

Gloster Meteor F.8 PRONE Version. One of the Mk.8 Meteor jets flew as a test bed for a special type of pilot´s cockpit which employed the seat in a prone position. The new nose section was fitted in front of the standard Meteor cockpit, making this version rather unique-looking with such a long nose. The model was already released some time ago, now it is newly re-relased in the Special Hobby range of products.
Sd.Ah 115 German tank transport trailer. This German Anhanger, or trailer, designated Sd.Ah.115 was widely used for transporting light weight tanks as well as other sorts of military vehicles of similar weights. The Wehrmacht had them in their service throughout the war.
Douglas A-20B/C Havoc ‘Gunships’ ‘Early Gunships’ The American A-20 Havoc light bomber and ground attack aeroplanes and the versions used by the Commonwealth over many battlefields of the war were often field-adapted to carry machine guns in their front fuselage section. These versions were usually know as a Gunship. Such a version is now the subject of this kit, it offers one US machine as flown over Africa and one as operated in the Pacific. The latter enjoyed almost double life, and it is faithfully reflected in the decal sheet too. And we have added a third option as well, this one flew with the RAAF and had 186 combat missions under its belt.
German Ace H. Wick's Messerschmitt Bf-109E-4 Stipple Camouflage Scheme. This decal sheet offers the special mottle type camouflage scheme as often seen in use with JG2. The pattern was also applied to Helmut Wick’s Yellow 2 machine. As it might prove rather tricky to make such scheme by the means of using a brush or airbrush, we bring you these decals to make your modelling life easier. Designed to fit the new Special Hobby SH72439 Bf 109E-4.

Yakovlev Yak-38/Yak-38M "Forger" standard colours of Yak-38 fleet in Soviet Navy service. Yak-38 colours. Yak-38 camouflage. Yak-38 "Forger" (initially known as Yak-36M) was the only VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft that entered operational service in the Soviet Naval Aviation. It was designed in late-1960s/early-1970s, 231 airframes (143 Yak-38, 38 Yak-38U and 50 modernized Yak-38M) were built and served till 1992 on Kiev-class aircraft carriers (heavy aviation cruisers according to Soviet classification). All Yak-38s (except for one airframe) and early Yak-38Ms wore a standard blue over green camouflage scheme (however the blue paint differed significantly between airframes and had a strong fading tendency). Yak-38Ms (except for couple of early airframes) used a new scheme of light grey over dark grey. Radio transparent elements of both types were painted in white.

Messerschmitt Bf-109E-3 In 1939-40, the Messerschmitt Bf 109E was the best fighter aircraft in production. Superbly trained pilots, utilizing the tactics devised during the war in Spain, simply swept from the skies everything that opposed them, first over Poland, then over Scandinavian countries and the skies of western Europe as well. It was not until they had reached proud Albion that their dominance was finally eliminated by those famous few mounting Spirfires and Hurricanes. The Bf 109 E-3 earlier variant of the Emil featured rounded style canopy and the decal sheet in our kit caters for five various machines. Four of them were flown by pilots who in 1940 already had been or were going to became Luftwaffe aces such as Mölders, Priller, Bär and Hackl. Each one of the machines also show how colourful the German schemes worn by Emils were. Plastic parts of the kit come on two styrene sprues joined by a sprue of clear canopy parts. Both the surface and the parts themselves are moulded to a stunning level, full of realism. - Highly accurate and detailed model - Easy to build - Option to show the engine open - Wing flaps can be posed down, slots open - Accurate decals for five machines, set of stencils included too - Pre-cut masks for the canopy and wheel available separately - Several resin detail sets on offer as well
