With the increasing strength of the enemy air forces and the urgent need for Stukas, it was necessary to modernize this aircraft. Therefore, the Ju 87D version entered production. It was aerodynamically modified and received a more powerful version of the Jumo 211 engine. The Ju 87D-3 version used a standard-span wing, and from the Ju 87D-5 version on, a wing with an extended span was installed. The Ju 87D was used by the Luftwaffe in Africa, the Mediterranean and on the Eastern Front. The air forces of the German allies, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia, also included this aircraft in their armament. With the growing strength of the anti-Nazi alliance, some Ju 87Ds fell into the hands of British and American units. The Bücker Bü 181 Bestmann was chosen in 1939 as the standard Luftwaffe trainer aircraft. It saw service as a trainer throughout the war and at its end the type also saw combat use as a light bomber or tank-busting aircraft. Due to this and also to Swedish license and post-war Czechoslovak and Egyptian production, the type achieved considerable expansion and fame. Most Bückers flew well into the 1950s and some still fly as veterans today. We offered the kit of this interesting aircraft under the catalog number SH48120. However, the kit was sold out and the fuselage tooling was damaged during the re-molding. As a result, the kit was not available for a long time. The unorthodox solutions chosen by its designers not only allowed the Viggen to meet the requirements placed on it, but in some parameters to surpass them. The Swedish Air Force ordered the Viggen in several versions, with the basic design of the aircraft forming a universal platform, which, supplemented with special equipment, allowed it to be used in several roles. The first of seven prototypes built took off on 8 February 1967, piloted by E. Dahlsröm. The electronic equipment was one of the best in the world at the time, the Viggen was the first machine with a built-in computer with integrated circuits. The AJ 37 Viggen was the first to enter service with the Swedish Air Force, followed by the SK 37 - a two-seat fighter trainer, the SF 37 - a reconnaissance version with photographic equipment in a modified nose, and the SH-37 - an anti-ship version with different electronic equipment and anti-ship armament. When the Soviet Union and the Eastern Block had collapsed, the plane went on being used and it continues doing so until these days, interestingly also in new NATO member countries. The avionics of the machines used in the Czech Republic and Slovakia was modernised and those machines are known as the L-39CN. The competition was won by Douglas with its DB-7 (later A-20 Havoc/Boston) and North American with the NA-40 (developed into the B-25 Mitchell). Martin played the role of third in the rear. Although the USAAF was not interested in its 167/XA-22 aircraft, France and Great Britain were. France designated these aircraft as the 167A-3 Glen and Britain as the Maryland Mk.I/II. Based on British experience and requirements, Martin developed the more powerful 187 (XA-23). The new aircraft, named Baltimore, were powered by two R-2600 engines. They were four-seat, could carry up to 1,800 kg of bombs and were heavily armed. They arrived in Great Britain in October 1941. The first 100 airframes, armed with a single machine gun in the dorsal mount, were designated Baltimore Mk.I. Other machines received a twin machine gun in the dorsal mount and were designated Baltimore Mk.II. Other versions of MK.III, IIIA/IV and V received motor-controlled turrets of various types instead of the dorsal mount. Baltimores Mk.I and Mk.II were used by the RAF on the North African battlefield as attack bombers and for maritime patrol. They made a significant impact in the Battle of El Alamein. Later versions, outside the RAF, were used in the Mediterranean by the air forces of South Africa, Australia, Italy, Greece and France. The kit is divided into nine sprues while the rest of the parts are provided via a fret of etches. The decals offer the markings of four machines. Fairey Albacore Mk.I/II The Fairey Albacore was the last biplane bomber to enter service with the British FAA. The aerodynamically refined biplane was intended to replace the older Swordfish biplanes. Like its predecessor, it was intended for torpedo and bombing attacks from horizontal and dive flight and for reconnaissance. The crewof three sat in the all-metal fuselage under a large canopy. The Albacore entered service in 1940 when the type was accepted by the first squadron, and went on to serve with a total of sixteen combat and counless training squadrons of the FAA. The Albacore fought in the Northern Atlantic as well as in the Mediterranean, where they sank several Italian ships in the Battle of Matapan, and operated from Malta and in the Indian Ocean. From 1944 they were gradually replaced by Barracudas. The Albacore also flew with the RAF, as this service deployed several aircraft in Singapore in December 1941, while other RAF Albacores operated in the English Channel during 1944. The last operator was the RCAF, which deployed their Albacores as part of No. 415 sqn over the English Channel. The kit consists of four grey styrene sprues and one clear sprue. Its many various versions fought in Allied air forces over almost all fronts and theatres of operations. The M version was the penultimate production version and was delivered both to the USAAF and the Allies. And this is the very reason there is so many interesting-looking colour schemes which the M Warhawks wore during their flying career. Our model has been kitted to a very high standard, three styrene sprues and one clear are joined by a decal sheet offering markings for four machines. You will find the almost mandatory Wairarapa Wildcat of the RNZAF top ace pilot G.B.Fisken, then there are two US machines and one as flown by an Aussie pilot.
