Designed to break through heavily fortified German defensive lines along the Siegfried Line, the vehicle prioritised extreme frontal armour protection over speed or tactical mobility. Lacking a turret, its 105mm T5E1 gun was mounted in a fixed casemate, while power was provided by a Ford GAF-V-8 engine. To distribute its immense weight, the T28/T95 employed a distinctive quadruple track configuration, with the two outer track units removable for transport. The end of the war and changing armoured doctrine rendered the concept obsolete, and the programme was cancelled.
