model 139/WH-1 ‘Early Dutch East Indies Bomber’ The Martin company started the revolution in aircraft construction with their Model 139 bomber that was also designated by the USAAF B-10, B-12 or B-14 depending on the engines used. In the early 1930s, the air was dominated by fabric-covered biplanes and then suddenly an all-metal monoplane appeared, with closed crew cockpits and cowled engines. Those new bombers were not only faster than other competing bombers, they were also faster then the fighter planes of the day. This meant the need for new, changed fighter plane design worldwide.
The Model 139 also earned export success. The bombers were delivered to militaries of several countries, among which was also Dutch East Indies that got two versions, the WH-1 and WH-2 differing in versions of their R-1820 power plants and the type of the cowlings. This model kit portrays the first version, the WH-1 equipped with R-1820-F53 radials. The colour schemes and decals cover three blue and yellow machines of the ML-KNIL (Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force), two of which with segmented roundels, the third with the orange triangles instead of roundels, and the fourth machine is a Thai Air Force WH-1. Thailand placed order for these bombers before the outbreak of the war plus also bought some more which were originally Dutch machines later captured by the Japanese. This fourth machine also has quite interesting colour scheme as through the Japano-Thai camouflage slightly peels off showing the underlaying Dutch yellow and blue scheme.

- excellent model kit of an revolutionary aircraft
- the WH-1 version has never been released in styrene format before
- interesting colour schemes and markings
- pre-cut masks, sold separately, also offered for this model kit. Price:£29.16

Curtiss Cw-24-B In 1939, the USAAF placed an order for the construction of unorthodox fiighter planes from three aircraft manufacturers based on the R-40C specifications. The Vultee XP-54, Northrop XP-56 and Curtiss XP-55 Ascender fighters were built to these specifications. Curtiss tested the XP-55's capabilities on a scaled-down flying model CW-24B. The plane had a steel-tube fuselage covered with fabris and a wooden wing. It was powered with a Menasco C68-5 engine. The overall yellow painted machine was tested at the Muroc Dry Lake in the first half of 1942.

Messerschmitt Bf-109G-6 Late Model
This model kit recreates the iconic WWII German BF109 G-6 Late Model variant. The kit is a variation of Item 61117 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 (which recreates the early production model). Inheriting the faithfully recreated form based upon extensive research and open or closed engine cowlings (interchangeable even after assembly) from Item 61117, this kit authentically features new parts to recreate characteristics such as the engine cowlings used for the Bf109 G-6 late model, an Erla Haube canopy, and 21cm rocket launchers under its wing.

About the actual plane
With over 30,000 produced, the Messerschmitt Bf109 is the most prolifically manufactured fighter in history; of its variants, the G-6 was the most made at 13,000 planes. The Bf109 G-6 - which was produced from summer in 1943 – had the distinctive engine cowlings featuring a small bulge and air scoop under right nose bulge (known in German as “Beule”) and machine gun ballistic smaller groove panels on upper nose. At the end of 1943, the BF109 G-6 employed canopy called Erla Haube featuring reduced frames for improved visibility.
These specifications were seen on many Bf109 G-6 late models. From August in 1943, 21cm rocket launchers were equipped at both sides of the wing, as the Bf109 G-6 countered the four-engine heavy bomber formation coming from UK. The Bf109 G-6 was deployed on both the Western and Eastern fronts, in particular dominating Soviet adversaries as it continued in service through to the end of WWII.

• 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit. Fuselage length: 188mm, wingspan: 207mm.
• The distinctive fuselage of the Bf109 G-6 is faithfully captured in style based on extensive research of the actual aircraft.
• The engine cowlings of the Bf109 G-6 late model are newly molded to recreate a small bulge and air scoop under right nose bulge (known in German as “Beule”) and machine gun ballistic smaller groove panels on upper nose. Engine cowlings can be assembled open or closed and interchanged as you like.
• The Erla Haube canopy is also recreated by new transparent parts. Assemble with open or closed canopy.
• New parts are also included to recreate the following features of the aircraft which Hermann Graf flew.
- Rearview mirror and bulging to cover the mirror on the canopy center section.
- Main landing gear bay doors and inside with cloth covers removed.
- 21cm rocket launchers and their pillars equipped at both sides of the wing.
• Comes with decals to depict 4 marking options (planned) including that of Hermann Graf, and color painting guide.
• The model can be assembled in one of the following three ways; early model, late model and mix model of early and late characteristics (smaller groove panels on upper nose without a small bulge under right nose bulge).. Price:£29.16

Rigging Turnbuckles - 4 Types, 136 pcs. 3D printing

High quality turnbuckles.

Elevate Your WWI & Interwar Aircraft Models with Art Scale Kit Turnbuckles

The intricate rigging that defined the iconic biplanes and early monoplanes of the WWI era and the subsequent interwar period is a crucial element for achieving historical accuracy and visual impact. Central to this rigging are turnbuckles (also known as rigging adjusters or Spannschloss in German).

The Role of Turnbuckles in Early Aviation

In full-scale aircraft, turnbuckles served a critical function: they allowed ground crews to precisely adjust the tension and length of the many bracing wires (flying, landing, and cabane wires) that held the fragile wing and fuselage structure together. Without this precise adjustment, the aircraft's structural integrity and flight performance would be compromised.

The Modeler's Challenge

For the scale modeler, replicating these tiny, complex parts is often the most demanding part of building WWI aircraft. Traditional methods using stretched sprue or photo-etched parts are often fiddly, lack the proper three-dimensional depth, and are prone to breakage.. Price:£9.99

Gun sight Type 98, Japan - 3 pcs. in three different sight variants for Japanese pre- and WWII planes.

Art Scale Kit Distribution s.r.o. presents its latest accessory: the Japanese 1/48 gun sight Type 98 in three different sight variants.

The Japanese Type 98 was a reflector-style gun sight used on many Imperial Japanese Navy and Army aircraft during World War II, including the A6M Zero.

Instead of a simple ring and bead, it used a collimator lens to project a reticle (a aiming pattern, often a crosshair) onto a transparent glass screen. This allowed the pilot to see the aiming point and the target at the same time, without needing to focus their eyes back and forth. This design made aiming faster and more accurate, especially in a dogfight.

The Type 98 reflector gunsight was a standard piece of equipment used by both the Imperial Japanese Navy and Army Air Forces. It was fitted to a variety of their frontline fighter aircraft during World War II.

Some of the most notable aircraft that used the Type 98 sight include:

Mitsubishi A6M "Zero": This was the most famous Japanese fighter of the war, and the Type 98 was a key component of its cockpit.
Nakajima Ki-44 "Tojo": This Army fighter, designed as an interceptor, also used the Type 98 sight.
Kawasaki Ki-61 "Tony": The Ki-61, Japan's only mass-produced liquid-cooled engine fighter, was also equipped with this reflector sight.
Kawasaki Ki-45 "Nick": The Type 98 was used on this twin-engine heavy fighter and night fighter.
The Type 98 was essentially a copy of the German Revi sight, which was known for its effectiveness in air-to-air combat. Its use across different aircraft types highlights its importance as a standard piece of technology for Japanese fighter planes of the era.

<-block class="ng-star-inserted" _nghost-ng-c510765152="">Kawasaki Ki-45 tei Toryu - High Risk High Reward This video is relevant because it shows the cockpit of the Kawasaki Ki-45, an aircraft known to have used the Type 98 gunsight.

North-American P-51B Mustang™ China/Burma/India, plastic kit 1/72 scale.

Kit includes:

Aeroplane plastic parts (2 grey sprues, 1 clear sprue)
Plastic parts – additional armament (1 grey sprue)
Canopy and wheels painting mask
Decals with 3 marking options
Marking options:

P-51 B-15-NA Mustang, pilot: Cpt. B.H. “Butch” Ashmore, 26th Fighter Squadron, 51st Fighter Group, Kunming, China 1944
P-51 B-10-NA Mustang, 529th Fighter Squadron, 311th Fighter Group, pilot: Lt. Wilbert McEvoy, Burma, summer 1944
P-51 B-7-NA Mustang, “JEANNE III” Cpt. Burton N. Rodier, 26th Fighter Squadron, 51st Fighter Group, China 1944
Known for their fights over Europe in the Allied air forces, the Mustangs were first and foremost purebred fighters that successfully escorted the ‘Flying Fortresses’ raids against the Reich and brought the German Luftwaffe to its ultimate doom. No less important and interesting, however, were the battles against the Japanese in which Mustangs took part in areas including China and Burma.

In the so-called CBI Theatre (China-Burma-India), the way aviation was used was very different from Europe. Instead of large strategic air strikes, tactical operations consisting of supporting ground troops, defending them from enemy aviation, attacking ground targets and reconnaissance predominated. In such a role, too, the fast and powerful Mustang proved itself admirably, thanks to its high payload, becoming an effective assault and even dive bomber, armed with a variety of bombs and rockets, able to operate safely without an escort!

Designed in the USA to British order, the North-American P-51 Mustang aircraft was initially produced with the USA-made Allison engine, tuned for low altitude. Already this version was a success and went into service not only with the RAF, but also with the US Air Force. These aircraft performed best as reconnaissance and attack planes, at high altitudes they lacked power. The problem was solved by the use of the legendary British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, which, manufactured under licence by Packard, made the Mustang the best fighter of World War II. Mass production of the new version of the Mustang was carried out at North-American plants in California under the designation P-51B-NA and in Texas as P-51C-NT. A total of 3738 B and C version aircraft were built. Some 900 of these, under the designation Mustang Mk III, were transferred to the RAF and to the Polish Air Force, RAAF, RCAF and Free French. Introduced into service in late 1943, they were gradually replaced by aircraft of the new P-51D/K version from mid-1944.. Price:£20.82

Bucker Bu-181 Bestmann The Bücker Bü 181 was structurally based on the successful sports and training biplanes Bücker Bü 131 and Bü 133. Unlike them, however, the Bü 181 was a low-wing aircraft with fixed landing gear and a covered cockpit. The wing and tail structure was wooden, partially covered with plywood, the remaining parts with fabric. The front part of the fuselage was made of a tubular structure with a fabric cover and a rear wooden shell with a plywood cover. The two-man crew sat side by side. The characteristics of the new machine were excellent and after thorough tests by the Reich Ministry of Aviation, the Bü 181 was selected as the standard Luftwaffe training aircraft. It was officially named Bestmann. Serial production of the Bü 181 began in 1940 and the B and C versions were produced, differing in the Hirt HM 500 A and B engine variants. Due to the need for training aircraft, the Bü 181 was produced during the war at the Bücker factory in Rangsdorf, but also at the Dutch Fokker factory and in Zlín in the then Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
During the war, the Luftwaffe aircraft were used as trainers, but at the end of the war they were involved in defensive battles over the ever-shrinking territory of the Reich. The aircraft were used in combat equipped with four Panzerfausts or a 50 kg bomb rack. The kit offers three aircraft.
Conquerors of Europe's sky. Martin B-26 Marauder, North-American P-51D Mustang and Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI conquerors of Europe At the beginning of World War II, U.S. aviation possessed aircraft of varying types and sophistication levels. While American fighters initially lacked significant advantages over enemy aircraft, designers soon created outstanding combat planes to overcome this deficit. In 1942, North-American developed the P-51 Mustang, which became one of the world’s finest piston fighters. British combat aviation also entered the war with diverse fighter types, with the Spitfire emerging as their standout aircraft. The Spitfire not only became Britain’s most mass-produced fighter but remained in service in several countries until the 1960s. In U.S. front-line bomber aviation, the B-26 Marauder played a notable role, seeing widespread use in the European theater during 1944–1945. The exceptional combat experience and expertise of U.S. and British pilots, combined with their aircraft’s superior technical capabilities, enabled them to turn the tide of the air war in Western Europe and achieve air supremacy..
