Soviet Su-76I Komandir (Beob.) with metal gun barrel. The Soviet Su-76I (of 1943; not related to another Soviet SPG type, the Soviet Su-76M) was based on the German Pz.Kpfw.III and Sturmgeschutz/StuG.III chassis and armed with 76.2mm ZiS-5 gun. About 1,200 of these captured vehicles, many from the Stalingrad area of battles, were converted at Factory No.38 by adding a new enclosed superstructure. They were issued to tank and self-propelled gun units starting in autumn 1943. They were withdrawn from the front in early 1944, and used for training until the end of 1945
